- What do Likely and Possible mean?
- Likely is the dance whose tempo and meter fit the music best. Possible is a dance you could also choose. Music at 124 beats per minute in 4/4 is 31 measures per minute: cha-cha is danced at 30 to 32, so it is likely. American rumba is danced at that tempo too, so rumba shows as possible. The ten ballroom dances come first; social dances such as salsa and bachata follow.
- Does WhichDance record or upload what it hears?
- No. Audio never leaves the phone. The app measures the tempo, the measures per minute and the meter on your phone, in memory, and throws the audio away. Nothing is recorded and nothing is sent anywhere. The microphone is only on while the app is listening.
- The app says no match. What helps?
- The app needs about eight seconds of clear music to find the tempo and the beat. Hold the phone closer to the speaker, keep it away from people talking, and try again. Music without a steady beat, such as a free-time ballad, gives no match.
- How many listens are free?
- 3 listens a day. The app tells you when the day's 3 free listens are used up. A subscription, monthly or yearly, removes the cap. Buy it in the app and it is tied to your App Store or Google Play account, so it comes with you to a new phone through Restore purchases.
- How do I cancel the subscription?
- In the store you bought it in, not in the app. On iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions. On Android: the Play Store app, your profile picture, Payments and subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
